Reason Pumphry was born on January 23, 1735, in Anne Arundel, Maryland, his father, Joseph, was 32 and his mother, Anne, was 30. He married Sophia Ridgely and they had 11 children together. He then married Anne Jacob in 1802. He died on June 6, 1812, in Brooke, Virginia, having lived a long life of 77 years.
