Orvoville-Mercury (Butte, CA) newspaper dated Saturday, June 8, 1946: "Ray Sprinkle Passes After Long Illness Raymond L. Sprinkle, Quincy Road, died early this morning at Oroville Curran Hospital, after an extended illness. Born in London Mills, Ill., Mr. Sprinkle came to Oroville 36 years ago as a member of the first construction crew to begin work on the Western Pacific Road. At the time of his retirement a year ago, he was a passenger conductor for the railroad. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lola Sprinkle; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Gladys Leggett of Oroville and Mrs. Delores Bratton of Redding; and a brother, James Sprinkle of Oakland. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Hamilton and Rileys, under the auspices of BPOE No. 1484. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery."
