Raymond Walter Schaper, 56, died at his home at 1210 Central Ave., Estherville, Feb. 19, 1973, at 12:55 p.m. from an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Reese-Henry Chapel in Estherville, with the Rev. H. Allen officiating. Burial will be made in East Side Cemetery with military graveside rites.
Mr. Schaper was born Oct. 9, 1916 at Buffalo Center to August and Wilhelmina Schaper. He attended school at Emmet Consolidated High School in 1937. He was married to Marjorie Crumrine on April 28, 1946, in Estherville. For the past 11 years, Mr. Schaper has been unable to work following a heart attack.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1942 to December 1945, and was stationed in Italy, Algeria and North Africa. He was an active member of the V.F.W. and held several offices.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; one daughter, Ruth Elizabeth, and two sons, William John and Brian Francis, all at home; three brothers, Otto and August Schaper, both of Estherville, and Henry Schaper of Santa Rosa, Calif.; three sisters, Mayme Schaper, Mrs. Nolan Boggess and Mrs. Nels Christensen, all of Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, after 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of services Thursday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, Iowa; February 20, 1973.
