From Karen Herschell: "The youngest son of Amelia and Jacob (who had a farm in Poestenkill, NY) was Raymond St. John Clum, my mom's dad. I always thought his middle name to be odd, but in doing genealogical research I found that the local revered physician was Dr. St. John. Who knows, maybe he saved the life of someone in the family, so they gave Raymond his name. Raymond and Evelyn later settled in Buffalo, NY, where he ran a wholesale food supply business. They had one son and three daughters, the youngest of whom was my mother, Natalie Amelia." In the 1920 census, Raymond 32 was enumerated as R. St. John Clum, living in the 19th Ward of Syracuse, Onondaga, NY. With him were wife Evvelyn 25 and children Donald 2 and 2/12 and Beverly J. 2/12. Evelyn said she and her parents were born in NY. Raymond was a produce broker. |
