Raymond W. Champ, of Manchester, died Friday, (May 26, 2000) at his home after a long battle with cancer. Ray, son of the late Edwina (Wardwell) Pitney and Raymond V. Champ, was born in Hartford on December 31, 1941, and had lived in Manchester and East Hartford for most of his life. Ray served in the U.S. Navy and was a 37 year member of the Sheetmetal Workers Union Local 40 until his retirement in 1995. Throughout his life, Ray showed an enormous amount of love for his family. He was a role model and hero to all. At the time of his death, Ray was the previous husband of Kathleen (Arms) Champ, and current husband to Roberta (Olbrys) Champ. Ray has a full sister, Janet (Champ) Rogers of Covington, GA, a half brother Kirk V. Champ of Coventry, CT, and a half sister Harriett Stratos of Niantic. Ray's two children are Colleen (Bird) Ann Champ of Andover, CT, and Raymond (Pidge) Wardwell Champ, Jr. of Stamford, CT. Ray also raised four step children: Kevin Kalanges, Scott Fultz, Heather Fultz, and Heidi Fultz. |
