- ↑ "SALEM - Ray Dean Wickersham, 72, of 490 W. Third St., Salem, died at11:30 p.m. Saturday near Ripley. W. Va., on Interstate 77, following anautomobile accident. Mr. Wickersham was born Sept. 26, 1932, inAlliance, the son of the late Ray Roscoe and Ruth Powell Wickersham. Hewas employed as a journeyman in the crane department of the AllianceMachine Company for 23 years, retiring in 1983. Prior to that, he wasemployed at the Crane Deming Pump Company in Salem. Mr. Wickersham was amember of the First Friends Church, American-Slovak Club and the ItalianAmerican Club. He served with the Army 82nd Airborne Division in theKorean War. He was preceded in death Aug. 7, 2001, by his wife, Dorothy(Sprowl) Wickersham, whom he married June 30, 1952. He is survived bytwo sons, Phillip (Pamela) Wickersham and Scott Wickersham, both ofSalem; four daughters, Mrs. Mark (Rebecca) Bricker and Mrs. Dutch(Vickie) Clunk, both of Salem, Mrs. Charles (Cheryl) Culbert of KansasCity, Mo., and Mrs. Robert (Denise) Haueter of Hanoverton; a sister,Mrs. Robert (Arlene) Eglie of Homeworth; nine grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in deathby a brother, Leonard Wickersham and a grandson, Nicholas Clunk.Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Stark Memorial FuneralHome with the Rev. Jack Austin officiating. Burial will be in HighlandMemorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday atthe funeral home."
