Mr. Ray Dean Tullis, 64, of Morganton, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008, following a period of declining health at his residence.

Mr. Tullis was born on July 20, 1943 in Gwinnett County, Ga., to the late Lloyd Tullis and Vertis Fowler Tullis.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from the SGL Carbon plant in Morganton.

Survivors include one son, Lloyd Charles Tullis and his wife, Jennifer, of Morganton; one daughter, Crystal Anne Johnston and her husband, Shane, of Drexel; one sister, Geneva Stapleton, of Buford, Ga.; four grandsons, Taylor Jordan Cabell, Dustin Allen Cabell, Dakota Cheyenne Tullis and Thomas Dean Tullis; and four daughters in Asheville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Tullis.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Morganton. The family will receive friends following the service. Heritage Funeral Service of Valdese is serving the family.
