Ray M Burkett Sept. 3, 1931 -- Aug. 27, 2003 ------ Ray M Burkett, 71, of Sandusky CO Rd 74, Gibsonburg, died early Wednesd ay morning at home. Ray was born in Gibsonburg to the now deceased Luther and Marion (Rearic k) Burkett. He served in the U.S Army during the Korean War from 1951 unt il 1953. He married Donna Kutzli on May 16, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Chur ch in Gibsonburg and she survives in Gibsonburg. Ray was a founding member of S.C.R.A.P and was a member of the Gibsonbu rg American Legion. He worked as a mechanic for Chemitrol Chemical in Gibs onburg for many years. Also surviving Ray are daughters Jeanette (Mark) Damschroder of Fremont, C heryl Burkett of Lindsey and Chris (Matt) Sell of Toledo; grandchildren Ma tthew and Annette Damschroder of Fremont, Stephanie Burkett of Lindsey a nd Steven Damschroder of Fremont; sister Reta (George) Koepke of TX; and s tepsisters Jean Overmyer of Fremont and Viola MacElroy of Virginia. In add ition to his parents, he is preceded by brother James Burkett and stepbrot hers Lionel, Wayne and Harold Johnson. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Ho me, Gibsonburg. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Fritz Merk es officiating. Burial: West Union Cemetery with military rites by the Gibsonburg Americ an Legion. Memorials: American Diabetes Association or the Fremont Dialysis Center.
