Obituary
A tribute published in the pages of The Indianapolis Times, Indianapolis, Indiana, March 23, 1962.
RAY M. ASHTON. Ray Milton Ashton, a stockman with Indianapolis Paint & Color Co. for eight years, died yesterday in his home, 1437 N. Shannon. He was 64. Mr. Ashton was born in Antwerp, O., and lived here 41 years, coming here from Ft. Wayne. Before working with the paint company, Mr. Ashton had worked as superintendent with Real Silk Hosiery Mills and later at National Hosiery Mills, until the company ceased operations in 1953.
Mr. Ashton was a member of Wallace Street Presbyterian Church, Ancient Landmarks Masonic Lodge, Modern Woodmen of America and the Teamsters Union. He owned a cottage on Lake Wawasee and spent summer weekends and vacations there fishing. He was an avid bowler. Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Moore & Kirk Irvington Chapel, with burial in Washington Park East.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie Ashton; a daughter, Mrs. Ester Mae Cook; three brothers, Charles Robert Ashton, Huntertown; Floyd Ashton, Indianapolis, and Paul Ashton, Venedocia, O.; two sisters, Pauline Patterson, Indianapolis, and Fern Wolffe, Ft. Wayne; a granddaughter and three grandsons.
