She was bornJanuary 26, 1868 in Jamestown, New York.Notes for RANSOM THOMPSON COWING:Ransom was educated in the public schools of the town of Busti, ChautauquaCounty, New York, finishing his studies at Jamestown Union School. He hasspent alnost his entie life a resident of Lakewood, New York, his presenthome being the old homestead founded by his father when he was a younf man.For a few years, while in the employ of the Erie Railroad Company, he madehis home in Meadville, Pennsylvania. In earlier life he assisted his fatherin the baggage-room at Lakewood. In 1884 he entered the employ of the ErieRailroad Company as brakeman. In 1887 he was promoted to freight conductorand in 1907 passenger conductor, running betrween Meadville, Pennsylvaniaand Salamamcs, New York, and Meadville and Buffalo. in 1910 he resignedafter a service of a quarter century. He is now engaged in the retail coalbusiness at Lakewood, with yards and storage plant near the Erie station.He was elected justice of the peace of the town of Busti, November 7, 1911,for a term of four years. He is a Republican and a member of Hall Post,Sons of Vetrans, Jamestown; of Lakewood Lodge, No. 268, I.O.O. F., andDivision No. 32, Order of Railroad Conductors. He married first MattieStewart, she died 1885, Second Marriage to Elizabeth Crouch, she died 1897,Third Marriage to Charlotte, born in Jamestown, January 26,1868, widow ofFrank Gates, daughter of Issac A. and Sarah J. (Thompson) Stoner. By herfirst marriage, Charlotte had a son, Leon Gates, resident of Olean, NewYork. References
