[edit] About Ralph LiebmanRalph Howard Liebman was born 5 February 1932 in California, the son of Aurolia "Amelia" (or Molly) Lambert and a Mr. Liebman. Ralph was raised by his mother and step-father, Clinton W. Boyce (1910-1980). They are listed in the 1940 Census when Ralph, then age 8, has just completed the second grade of elementary school while the family was living in San Antonio, Los Angeles County, California. Ralph worked in the grocery industry all of his adult life. After graduating from South Gate High School, he started in the business as a meat cutter with Ralphs Grocery Company in 1951 and worked his way through many executive positions up to Executive Vice President of Warehousing and Transportation in 1977 before his retirement in 1993. Liebman was a highly-respected executive and was elected Chairman of the California Grocers Association in 1982. Liebman had the overall responsibity for Ralphs' warehousing and transportation operations for many years, and oversaw the building of Ralphs' $50 million, 170,000 square-foot state-of-the-art distribuiton center near Glendale, built in the mid-1980's. Liebman was dedicated to community service and giving back to charitable causes. He served as President of the Food Industries Circle, which raises millions of dollars for the City of Hope Medical Center. He served on the boards of directors of the Boy Scouts of America's Bay Area Council and the Long Beach Yacht Club. Ralph married twice; first on 5 November 1950 to Donna J. Cuisimano in Los Angeles County (marriage ended in divorce); and second to Maureen M. Frost on 8 April 1978 also in Los Angeles County [Source: California Marriage Index]. He had two daughter from his first marriage. Ralph Liebman died on 17 May 1994 at his home in Long Beach, California after a six-month battle with liver cancer at the age of 62.
