Rachel was James and Elizabeth's eighth child and was born at Back Crk Yandilla Qld 21 April 1882. https://www.familyhistory.bdm.qld.gov.au/ She was enrolled in school 1895 (12 yrs old). She and her sisters worked as domestic servants from their early teens. They lived abt 7 miles away from their work and only got Sunday afternoons off to walk home to see their parents and had to back in time to serve the Sunday night tea. By the time she was 18 yrs old she was head cook at Dunmore Station.
