BIOGRAPHY: A letter by E.B. Jordan lists her parents as Peter & Elizabeth Metzler. An article from the Spring 1994 issue of the Blackhawk (IL) Genealogical Society mentions with parents as Peter Metzler & Elizabeth Harcom, who were natives of PA. However, the record shows his name is John Peter Metzler. Listed as Rachel Jordan in 1850 Fed. Census for T15N, R1W, Mercer Co., IL, enumerated on 4 Oct 1850, age 27, b OH. Listed as Rachel Jordan in 1860 Fed. Census for Coal Valley Twp., Rock Island Co., IL, enumerated on 9 Aug 1860, age 38. Listed as Rachel Jordan in 1880 Fed. Census for Rural Twp., Rock Island Co., IL, enumerated on 10 Jun 1880, age 58, b. OH, keeping house, both parents b. PA. Listed as Rachel Jordan in 1900 Fed. Census for Orion, Henry Co., IL, dist. 28, enumerated on 6 Jun 1900, age 72, b. May 1828, OH, widowed, 4 children born, 3 still living, both parents b. PA.

DEATH: Jeremy Jordan has original bills pertaining to expences, such as bill from H.H. Long, paid 9 Jun 1903 by W.H. Jordan for medical attendance of Rachel for $19.25. Payment rec'd 9 Jun 1903 by H.B. Engle for $95.00 for Undertakers expences. Bill for team & carriage for funeral of $2.50, rec'd by J. Henry Wilson, Livery and Boarding Stable. Death date per Susanne Burt Danubio is 6 Jun 1903, confirmed by the Western Cem. Inscription book I have had the 3rd from some other source. A copy of her Death Certificate shows she was age 81, 1 month, 2 days, giving a confirmation of her known birth date.
