6. RACHEL2 HARBISON (JOHN1) was born May 29, 1775 in Botetourt Co., VA, and died 1849 in Washington Co., IN. She married AMOS THORNBURG June 16, 1794 in Mercer Co., KY. Credit is due Ruth Harbison for searching on line for information on descendants of of Ruth Harbison and Amos Thornburg. The data found was not completely consistent and there were probably more children than were found. Ruth's sources were: (a) For son Richard Hope: Archives of the RootsWeb THORNBURG list; (b) For son Benjamin: Biographies of the Counties of Morgan, Monroe, and Brown [Cos.], IN (Chicago, 1884), P. 211, 242. Source for a son, Asa, were handwritten notes on John and Ann's chart of unknown origin.
Another of Ruth's sources said "it is believed that Amos' father was a Quaker in TN or KY; maybe Benjamin or Eli Thornburg.
One source says Amos and Ruth moved to Indiana Territory in 1808 and settled one mile SW of Salem on Blue River in Washington Co.

ii. BENJAMIN THORNBURG, b. September 25, 1797, near Harrodsburg, KY, Mercer Co.; d. Martinsville, Morgan Co., IN; m. SUSAN MONICAL, February 20,1817, Washington Co., IN. Benjamin came to Washington Co., IN with his parents in 1808 and then to Morgan Co., IN in 1822 (near Brooklyn.) He and Susan Monical are said to have had 14 children, 7 of whom were living in 1884: Rachel (m. ---- Moon), Hannah (m. ---- Davis), Amanda ( m. ---- Horner), Ada (m. ---- Dryden), John Harvison (b. 4 Nov 1821, Washington Co., IN) , Peter F., and Amos (b, 1827 in Morgan or Washington Co., IN.)
iii. RICHARD HOPE THORNBURG, b. January 13, 1816, Salem, Washington Co., IN; d. October 19, 1897, Pleasantville, Marion Co., IO; m. MARTHA POLSON. Richard Hope Thornburg and Martha (Patty/Patsy) Polson had 5 children: Thomas P., Amos G., Mary Ann, James W. and Benjamin F. Thornburg.
