On Monday, Feb 10 at 1 p.m., Mrs. Rachel Harris passed away after an

    illness of eighteen months.

Rachel McAssey was born in Carlow County, Ireland, July 21, 1822, and was

baptized in the Episcopal church. She came to America with her parents in April, 1847, and was married to Richard Harris in October of the same year.

Eight sons were born to them, of whom four only are living- Richard of

Denver. Col; William and Jefferson of this city (Ripon, Wisconsin), and Benjamin of Park City, Montana.

The family resided in the town of Metomen, where Mr. Harris died in 1863.

Mrs. Harris moved to Ripon in 1891, and lived here until the time of her death. She was a first cousin to the celebrated John Tyndall.

Mrs. Harris was a woman of sweet and charitable disposition, and the

memory of her beautiful life will enrich the lives of all who came in contact with her. To the two sons who watched so faithfully by her during her long illness, and to the two absent sons, is given the deepest sympathy of their many friends.

The funeral services were held at the residence on Watson street

Wednesday, at 10 a.m., the Rev. Smith officiating. Interment took place at Reeds Corners, where she rests beside her husband and children.
