"Prudence Atkins Blodgett, daughter of John King and Jane Avery Blodgett; she died March 28, 1859. She was the first person to be buried at what is now Mount Rest Cemetery, North Brooksville, Maine. What is now known as the 'old part' of Mount Rest was a part of the farm owned by John King Blodgett and was given to the town to be used as a burial place soon after the death of his daughter, Mrs. Perkins, in 1859. Prudence Blodgett married Jeremiah Perkins, a son of Amos and Ruth (Wardwell) Perkins of Brooksville. She was the mother of ten children."
