Provided Gaskill, d/o Samuel Gaskill and Provided Southwick, b. "4 22 1672" [normally, 22 Jun 1672, except by comparison with the other source, the author's anachronistic date numbering becomes obvious, so 22 Apr 1672], d. "12m 4d 1727" [4 Feb 1727/28 assuming copied from a contemporary source but see note].
Source:Vital records of Salem, Massachusetts, to the end of the year 1849 (228580), p. 5:274, has the entry: "Gasskell, Provided, 4 : 12m : 1727-8. P.R.5" [4 Feb 1727/28, taken from the Collins Diary now in possession of the Essex Institute]. Source:Gaskill genealogy then applies this date to both this Provided Gaskill, and also her mother Provided Gaskill. The mother was living as of 1 Sep 1725 when she is mentioned in her son Samuel's will. So, until more information is provided, it seems more reasonable to assume the author of the diary might be more likely to be noting the death of the older Provided, rather than this one.
