Facts and Events
Julia Haley was thought to possibly be a second wife of this Pleasant Lipscomb because a marriage is listed in the Charlotte County marriages book, 1765-1866. "The presumption that this is the same Pleasant is based on the lack of evidence for any other of that name at that time. If this is correct, perhaps he had three children by each wife." [According to Kethurah (Schroeder) Lipscomb (Mrs. John P.), 3309 Shepherd St., Chevy Chase, MD 20015, as published in "Lipscomb: 300 Years in America", p. 97.] Mrs. Keturah Lipscomb, however, did not have a copy of the bible records that we have in the Stamps Family History and Lineage compilation (by C. T. and Will Stamps). In the bible, there is no mention of a "Julia Haley", however, there is mention of Sarah McAllister, along with five children listed (Elizabeth, b. ca. 1820, as shown in the Lipscomb book, is missing from the family bible, indicating she may have died as an infant.) This casts doubt that Julia Haley married this Pleasant Lipscomb. |
