Beauperthuy is name deriving from Perigord France. The Beauperthuy were Pharmacist appointed by the king of France to serve in the millitary base of the French West Indies. The Beauperthuy's first arrived in Guadeloupe and then to St. Martin.

In 1771 Pierre Beauperthuy was nominated by the king to be the new minister for the millitary hospital in n Guadeloupe. He discovers the prosperity of sugar while in Guadeloupe. Pierre Beauperthuy was also a member of the Academie of Royal Science and progress. He also measured the height of the soufriere in 1819 with the help of a barometer.
