Phyllis A. Wensel, 76, Sharpsville, passed away at 10:10 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at her home. She was born June 1, 1941, in Forest, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Orace “Shorty” & Eva (Lauchner) Kirkendall. On September 4, 1976, she married Homer Wensel and he survives.
Phyllis was a 1959 graduate of Forest High School. She retired from Delco Electronics after 30 years of service in the speaker department. Phyllis was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling with the love of her life, Homer. After retiring from Delco, Phyllis and Homer traveled to most of the 50 states and parts of Mexico and Canada in their motor home. She also enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and playing cards with her friends and family.
Along with her husband Homer, Phyllis is also survived by her children, Jerry (Valerie) Bougher, Ann O’Neal Wensel, and Shelly (Kolby) Dickover; grandchildren, Jamie Bougher, Nicole (Adali) Schuler, Emily Morano, Jakob Morano, Casey (Jim) Gallaher, Kyle (Elizabeth) Dickover, TJ Dawson, and Christine Dickover; great-grandson, Camden Dickover; siblings, Cindy Carter, and Butch Kirkendall.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; step-son, Joe Ingram; and sister, Janet Davis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 9, 2018, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 W., Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Matthew Arbuckle the celebrant. Private burial will be held at a later date in Russiaville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2-5 pm Sunday, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street, Russiaville.
