He died at Bilton near Wetherby, in the deanery of Ainsty, Yorkshire, before 27 January 1618/9, when administration on his estate was given to his widow, Dorothy. … When administration on the estate of Philip Stapleton, gentleman, late of Bilton, was granted 27 January 1618/9 to his widow, Dorothy Stapleton, reference was made to Dorothy, sole child of the deceased.
