Became a successful tobacco merchant in New York and was elected an Alderman in 1882, which he held until the turn of the century.. In 1907 an article in the New York Times reports 400 people attended his and Marie's 50th Wedding celebration. The same Rabbi that celebrated his son Jacob's wedding to Gladys Fauerbach and after Jacob's death Glady's marriage to Harold officiated in the ceremony at the celebration on 12th May 1907.
