Philip was born in 1794 in Tennessee County, Tennesse Territory. The county divided in 1796 when Tennessee became a stateand that portion where the Holeman's lived was called Robertson County. When he was a young teenager, the family moved intonearby Caldwell County, Kentucky. Philip's older brother moved to nearby Union County by 1811, and Philip joined him by1814 when he purchased a lot in Morganfield. Philip married NancyJohnson in Union County, Kentucky on February 10, 1816. They had sixchildren by 1829 when Nancy died. Philip remarried to Hannah Sigler, and they had four more childrenbefore Philip died about 1845. Hannah was Philip's first cousin sinceshe was the daughter of John Sigler a brother to Philip's mother.Between 1832 and 1835 Philip purchased several tracts of land on Highland Creek. Some researchers believe there aretwo Philip J. Holemans that were born in 1794 and were living in thesame area of Kentucky. One lived in Union County and married NancyJohnson while the other one lived in Hopkins County and married HannahSigler. The parents of the Philip Holeman that lived in Hopkins Countywere John Holeman and Margaret Sigler of Caldwell County. The parentsof the Philip Holeman of Union County are unknown. If there were twoPhilip Holemans, then more research is needed to establish the link ofPhilip Holeman of Union County to his parents. He was married to NancyJohnson on 10 Feb 1816 in , Union, Kentucky.
