Death of P.M. Doggett.
Phillip M. Doggett, son of Arthur D. and Sarah Doggett, was born at Nevada, Indiana, on the 17th day of October, 1850, being at the time of his death, sixty-five years, two month and twenty-three days of age.
He was united in marriage to Martha Teris [sic, Tevis] Martin on the 17th day of February 1879. To this union seven children were born, three sons and four daughters. Walter Martin, Charles Arthur, Clifford Talmage, Lula Mae, Mattie Alice, Anna Augusta and Thelma Laura. A son and daughter preceeded him to the better world.
Mr. Doggett moved to Kansas in 1893 and to Leoti in 1911. He was converted when about thirty years of age and later united with the M.E. church. He was a faithful, earnest christian, a kind and loving husband and father. He began failing in health about two years ago, and for the last four months was confined to his bed most of the time. His suffering was intense but he bore it with great patience. On the 29th of December he was gloriously sanctified, and gave a word of cheer and exhorted all who came to his bedside to lead christian lives and prepare for eternity and meet him in glory. He died on the 10th day of January at 10:10 p.m. He leaves a wife, two sons, three daughters and five brothers to morn his loss, besides a host of friends. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church yesterday morning at 11 o'clock, and were conducted by Rev. Robert Potter. The remains were laid at rest in the Leoti cemetery.
