On p. 137 it states that Philemon Whale, died Chickney, co. Essex, England, on 23 March 1619/20. On p. 134, it cites the parish records of Chickney, which show this date to be specifically the burial date.

  2.   Source:The Genealogist (American Society of Genealogists), p. 6:133, gives the marriage of Grabriell Ingram and Sarah Whale on 21 May 1607 according to parish registers of Chickney, Essex Co., England. Since this appears to be the Sarah Ingrame mentioned in this will, she would probably need to be born by 1590 at least, and her father born before 1570, so I suspect the birth date here of 1573 might be incorrect? Parish Registers at Great Canfield, Essex Co., England, show a marriage of Philemon Whale, clerk and Ann Norwood dated 4 Sep 1581. Since the will belongs to a Philemon Whale, clerk, and since Ann and Agnes, the name of Philemon's wife in his will, were often used interchangeably, this marriage appears to provide another data point, this one suggesting his birth was likely before 1560! On p. 137 of this article, it suggests Philemon was born "say 1550, probably at Colchester". Moving the birth date forward then make Philemon eligible to be the son of Richard, since he was named in Richard's will of 1567.
