In Leonardsville, N. Y., April 6th, 1878, at the residence of her son-in-law, Rev. Stephen Burdick, Mrs. Phebe Maxson, widow of the late George Maxson, of Ward, Allegany county, N. Y., in the 81st year of her age. From the death of her husband, which occurred a number of years ago, to the day of her departure, she carried in her bosom an utterly broken heart. She had affectionate and noble children and grandchildren to care for her, but in the death of her husband her earthly heart-stay was taken away. She also suffered much from a painful disease in the head, causing deafness for several years before her death. She was a member of the 1st Seventh-day Baptist Church of Alfred, and her pastor takes pleasure in bearing testimony to the purity of her life and her noble Christian example among her neighbors. "The memory of the just is blessed."
