Phebe______Carlile, b 1780 Bucks Co, may have m. Thomas Hunter b 1775,Middletown, Bucks, PA as widow of Amos Carlile. Per LDS records: "Amos Carlisle was born on 12 June 1766, in Plumstead Township, Bucks, Pennsylvania, United States, his father, John Carlisle, was 32 and his mother, Sarah Pennington, was 32. Amos's grandfather John Carlisle, owned plantation in Plumstead Bucks PA m. Sarah Pennington, and both were Quakers. Amos Carlisle had at least 1 son with wife Phebe. Amos died as young man. Further evidence of this theory is that Thomas Hunter's mother, Elizabeth Longshore's older brother Euclydus Longshore's widow Jemima Longshore "of Bensalem Township" in Bucks, PA, sold her four acres of land in Middletown Township on 29 Nov. 1808 to Jonathan Carlile, Jr. And later this Jonathan Carlile Jr witnessed the last will of Rachel VanBlunk Flowers husband, James Flowers, in 1807. This Rachel VanBlunk Flowers m. in 1808 (after Flower's death) to Andrew Hunter (Thomas's father) after death in 1794 of his wife Elizabeth Longshore. So Jonathan Carlisle Jr (a Quaker) bought land in Middletown Bucks PA from Elizabeth Longshore Hunter's relative Jemimi Longshore (also Quaker). And Elizabeth Hunter's son, Thomas m. Phebe the widow of one of these Carlisle boys. |
