Phebe Calhoun, daughter of Charles and Ann (Wilson) Calhoun, married James Reid. In 1836 James Reid of Mississippi purchased land from B. G. Rainey in Marshall County, Tennessee, 300 acres on the north side of Duck River. In 1837 he transferred 100 acres to each of their three sons: Zacheus P. Reid, Samuel D. Reid and Joseph M. Reid. It was specified in each of the transactions that James Reid and his wife Phebe would have a home on any part they might choose for the balance of their natural life.
