IS DEAD IN THE SOUTH Passes Away Suddenly at His Winter Home in West Palm Beach Relatives have received word of the sudden death of Peter Widman, 71, of Rice township, who passed away at his winter home at West Palm Beach, Fla., Sunday morning of an unexpected heart attack. Mr. Widman had been In the best of health and his death came as a great shock to his sister, Miss Anna Widman, who resided with him in the south, and to the relatives here. Miss Widman left Sunday morning for Fremont with the body and expected to arrive in Fostoria Tuesday afternoon, but missing the train at Jacksonville will bring the body to Fostoria at 4:01, p. m., Wednesday over the Big Four Ry. Ochs Brothers will go to Fostoria and bring the body to Fremont where it will be taken to the funeral home and later to the residence of a brother of the deceased, George Widman on Morrison street.. Funeral services will he held at St. Joseph's church very likely on Friday morning, with burial in the family lot in the parish cemetery. Peter Widman was born in Rice township June 28, 1860, a son of Daniel and Mary Widman, prominent early pioneers. He received his education in the rural schools and later attended St. John's college in Toledo. He pursued farming until 12 years ago when he became interested in property at West Palm Beach, Fla., where he also owned several houses. He spent his winters in Florida coming home in the spring and returning south in the fall. His sister Ann has been making the trips and residing with him the last eight years. He was unmarried. Surviving are one sister and five brothers, Miss Anna Widman, George Widman, Fremont; Henry, Frank and Louis of Rice township and Charles Widman of Sandusky township. There are numerous nieces and nephews. The well known Rev. Joseph Widman, of St. Mary's church, Sandusky, where he was a rector, was a brother. He died about 12 years ago and is buried in Sandusky. Peter Widman was a member of St. Joseph's church and in his young manhood was a member of the Young Men's Society of his day. There are many friend here who will regret to learn of his death. |
