In Hopkinton, R. I., Sept., 29th, 1874, from kidney disease, Peter C. Wells, in the 60th year of his age. The subject of this notice in early manhood sought and found Christ a needed and precious Saviour. He was one of three young men from this section, who embraced religion while on a fishing cruise on Nantucket Shoals. The fishing smacks, upon which they sailed, were weather-bound at Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, where a precious work of grace was being carried forward; they attended the meetings, became concerned for their soul's salvation, gave themselves to Christ in willing service, returned home, and united with the 1st Hopkinton Church. One of them still lives in this community. Brother Wells lived an exemplary Christian man, and died in the full assurance of faith, leaving behind him a wife and a large family of children, who are comforted with the belief that is well with husband and father.
