He enlisted, date not shown, to serve 2 years, and his name is first borne on a company payroll covering the period from May 25, 1776 to April 30, 1777, which shows that he served 11 months and 6 days, and that his time was to expire April 10, 1778. He was transferred in August or September, 1777 to Captain Thomas Berry's Company, same regiment, and his name is last borne on a muster roll for January, 1778, dated Fedruary 4, 1778, of part of the 8th Virginia Regiment "whose time expires before the 19th of April next" on which roll he was reported present. Rev War: Battle of King's Mtn 7 Oct 1780; Peter Quin's place was six or seven miles from King's Mountain. Peter at age 60, moved to SW MS abt 1811 or 1812, by 1813 he had settled in the Bogue Chitto River Valley on Section 22.

Peter Quin, Sr. owned the NE qtr Sec 29 and the Quin homestead overlooked the new townsite. The Holmesville Cemetery was est. on Peter Quin's land. Peter Quin, Jr. was elected one of the five trustees for the new town, and 1st Probate Judge, State Rep, three of his sons later served in the legislature.

Pike Co. MS was est. out of Marion Co. and included all of present Pike and Walthall Counties and the last to be formed before MS became a state. Peter Quin, Jr. became Justice of the Quorum; Henry Quin, Justice of the Peace; and Peter Quin, Sr. County Treasurer. In 1820 Holmesville became the County Seat.

Palo Alto, MS; Issue 8. Missionary Baptist Preacher and Medical Doctor - Resided in NE GA until abt 1830. Organized the Palo Alto, Clay Co. Peter's son Rev Hugh Quinn, who married the widow of Thomas Allison and lived at the ferry on Main Broad River now known as Ellis Ferry. Peter first settled at McCash, about two miles distant from the mouth of Buffalo. He lived there until about 1811 when he and several others of the Quinn family moved to Mississippi. There are several of the same Quinn family remaining here."
