Peter LUDWIG, was the son of Karl LUDWIG and Mary Anna SCHWAB. Karl, son of Jacob LUDWIG and Anna Maria MAIS, died in Germany, and his widow, Mary Anna, brought her five children to America. The family had lived in the towns of Buchel, Alflen and Gevenich in the Rheinland province of Germany. Mary Anna SCHWAB's father was Wilhelm Jacob SCHWAB, son of Jacob Christopher SCHWAB and Anna Maria SCHMITZ, daughter of Jacob and Maria Gertrude SCHMITZ. Mary Anna's mother was Anna BRAUNS, daughter of Joanny BRAU
