Will Abstract

Will of Peter King. Oldest son Cornelius to have suit of wearing apparel.
Daughter Mary Westfall, a Bible. Son John, 2 horses. Son Jacob 1/2 of plantation and other 1/2 to daughters Anne & Jannet. Wm. Cleaver, Sr. is to have a slice of land running along his line.
Appoints son Jacob, exec.
Wit: John Sutherland & Arthur Murphy. Written 23 Sep. 1799.
Codicil 14 Apr. 1804 says that son Jacob and daughters Anne & Jannet are not to be accessed for property they hold in their names.
Wit: John, Anne & Jannet Sutherland. Prob. 18 July 1814.
Also includes depositions of John & Anne Sutherland that they are too ill to come to court but that this is the will of Peter King.
Note: "To son Jacob King, one-half of the plantation on which testator lives, and the other half of the said plantation to go to two daughters, Anne King and Janet King in the following manner. The one-half is to be appraised to its real value in other property, and then son Jacob is to pay that property to his two sisters, Anne and Janet within the term of four years, and after such payment is made by Jacob, he is to have the whole plantation and all moveable property. Bonds and Bills are to be appraised and to be equally divided between son Jacob and daughters Anne and Janet. The property that daughters Anne and Janet are to receive is not be valued with testator's property, but shall be theirs without any reserve." John Sutherland and Nancy Sutherland (Anne) his wife, proved will by their signatures, by deposition, July 21, 1814.
