Name Suffix:<NSFX> Captain Peter Harwood, son of Major Peter and Pheobe Harwood was born September 1, 1765. On January 22, 1787 at Dover, Deleware he married Elizabeth Airmet who was born in London, England on June 12, 1770 and came to America when three years old. Captain Peter served three years in the revolutionary army with his father; was Captain of the Militia, and also Selectman and Assessor in North Brookfield. He was at different times a merchant, hotel keeper and farmer. he died in Spencer, Mass. on April 17, 1836. Elizabeth died March 3, 1842. They had eleven children. A monument was erected in Maplewood Cemetery, North Brookfield, Massachusetts in 1911 to the memory of Ebenezer Harwood, Major Peter Harwood and Captain Peter harwood, Jr, his grandson. It bears this inscription: In memory of the men who each in his generation served his country in peace and in war. This Monument was erected by their decendants.
