E, 156th Regiment, on 17 Nov 1862, and was promoted to 1st Sergeant. He was wounded 19 Oct 1864, Battle of Cedar Creek, and spent time in the hospital at New Orleans; promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 11 July 1864. He mustered out with his unit on 23 Oct 1865.
