Peter Gower, deceased, was born in Lynchburgh, Va., Jan. 18, 1801. He left his native city for Somerset County, Pa., where he remained till he grew to manhood.

In the spring of 1834 he came to Wayne ° County, Ind., and bought a farm about two miles south of Centreville, where he farmed till 1857. He then sold his farm and bought the place now occupied by William H. Gower.
