Person:Peter Ditmars (1)

Peter Ditmars, son of John A. & Eliza Neff Ditmars of Wayne County, Ohio, married Lois Grace West, daughter of Joseph & Joanna Smith West (my ggg grandparents). Peter was 19 when he and his parents moved to Butler, Dekalb County Indiana. My ggg grandparents and their children came to Dekalb County in 1844 from Onondaga County New York. Peter and Lois married Jan. 6th, 1870. They had 4 children: Ida Ivern who died at age 3; William D, died at age 15 months; Jessie May and Amy Grace. Jesse married an Owen and Amy married a Weaver. I live in Toledo, Ohio and I have been to Auburn and Butler once. I visited the cemetery where my ggg grandparents are buried. I've been doing this research off and on for several years, but haven't gotten farther back than my ggg grandparents. I'm hoping someone might know more than I. I understand the Ditmars were held in high regard in the area. It is a German name. Peter died in 1905 leaving Lois widowed. She lived with her daughters in Jackson Township, Dekalb County. I'd be happy to send you my entire West line.
