    1st Tour
In the year 1780 on the first of September I enlisted at Hampshire County Virginia as a volunteer private in a company of militia commanded by Capt Daniel Ritison [probably Daniel Richardson] and served six months. From Hampshire Co. Virg. we were marched to Hillsborough in North Carolina, where we were joined by Genl. Green [sic: Nathanael Greene]. Our Regimental officers were Colonel Robert Stevens, and Major George Stubblefield. At Hillsborough a rifle company was formed of those armed with rifles & put under the command of Capt Robert Cravins [sic: Robert Cravens] – we marched under Capt Cravins to the Cheraw Hills [in SC, late Dec]. On our return I was placed again under the command of Capt. Ritison.
Here we were detached to guard a body of prisoners to Albemarle Barracks where we were discharged the first of March 1781 by Major Geo. Stubblefield. I received a discharge which has been lost.
The applicant Peter Cutright has resided for the last four weeks in Macon County – Illinois. He is old and in indigent circumstances and lives with his relations, sometimes in Macon and sometime in Sangamon County.
