Note: The family moved to Berlin, NY in the fall of 1796 and then moved to Sweden, NY 23 Feb 1811. Peleg was a casualty of the war of 1812. After selling his farm to his brother Charles, Peleg moved his family from Westerly R.I. to Berlin, Rensselaer Co., N.Y. in the fall of 1796. On about 23 Feb 1811 they moved west to Sweden, Monroe Co., N.Y. where he bought a 290 acre farm. In 1814, during the war, a General Izard(?) was marching to Niagara to defend the frontier against British forces in Canada. He pressed Mr Saunders's teams, and Mr. Saunders accompanied him to transport provisions to Fort Erie. Peleg became sick with what they called Camp Distemper and he died at Fort Erie on 28 Oct 1814, aged 55 yrs 1 mo. and 24 days. Their son Rowland took charge of the farm. References
