Pedro Alves de Almada founded a morgado in Guimarães, called morgado da Azenha. I have also the "carta de brazão de armas" from the King of England granting to him and descendants the use of a coat of arms. So he has 2 c of a. - one from the Almadas and the one granted by the English King. Some of his descendants quartered the arms-per Miguel. Pedro Álvares de Almada, fidalgo da Casa Real, warrior at the service of the King of England, from whom he was granted a coat of arms, for him and his descendants. I have the text in portuguese of the CBA (Carta de Brasão de Armas) granted to Pedro Álvares de Almada.Naturally, the Almadas Cardosos frøm Madeira and their descendants never forgot their connection to the Almadas. In Portugal the Almadas would rise steadily to the upper echelon of nobility. References
