Facts and Events
Per the "Mylius" family history book: In 1846/47 he was in a terrible dilemma. He was to be father by two girls at the same time. Whom to choose? One was a cotter's daughter, the other from a farm, and that perhaps made the choice a bit easier. Anyway, it was generally known in the family that Peder Maxen paid Nils Johansen Fauchaldbakken to take on the paternity of Helene Andersdtr. Fauchaldskoven's child so that he himself could marry Karoline Beate Larsdtr. Skindstad. Helene's daughter, Pernille Antonette, was born 10 June 1847. 17 July he married Karoline Beate, and 27 Aug. they had a son, Carl Magnus. Pernille knew about this and told it to her children. Peder Maxen is described as a drummer of Det totenske kompani, that used the Sukkestad plain for drilling at the time he was married. Later he is described as a cotter without land. It seems that he moved around Toten. In the beginning the family lived at Skindstad but most of the children were born in different places; Lundsten, Amodt, Vignaes, Oppegaard, Skjellebak, Madsbakken, Alfstadeie, Bratland and Hveemsberget. In their old age Peder and Karoline lived with their son no. 2 at Alm in Kolbu. It is said that Peder, when the Skreiabanen (railway line) was to be opened, walked around telling everybody about it. The weather was very bad, he was all wet, got pneumonia and died. |
