    Obituary of Pearlie Burks; 15 October 1997.

    Mrs. Pearlie Burks of San Angelo died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997, in a local nursing home.
    She was born Aug. 14, 1906, in Enid, Okla., to Anderson and Ella Bables.
    She received her education in the public schools of Enid and moved to San Angelo in 1939.
    She became a member of Antioch First Missionary Baptist Church, formerly Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served until her death. She was a member of the Heroines of Jerico. She worked in private homes as a domestic worker before retiring.
    Left to mourn her passing are husband, Lucius Burks; three sons, Robert L. Burks and James C. Burks, both of San Angelo, and William T. Burks of San Francisco; five daughters, Earnestine M. Griffin of Oakland, Calif., Cleo Lewis of Seattle, Wash., and Minnie E. Graham, Winnie Reed and Linda Campbell, all of San Angelo; 31 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
    Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. M.E. Robinson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Starks Funeral Home.
