Paulser Shaver was the son of German immigrants,Balthasar/Baltzer and Anna Margaret Schaeffer. He married Catherine in Pennsylvania about 1779. About 1780 Paulser and Catherine moved to Virginia, arriving in Rockingham Co. about 1783. The cemetery where Paulser, his wife and daughter Mary Hevner were buried at was plowed over several years ago. In 1996 Bruce Dove found two hand carved stones in the field where the cemetery was located. One was Paulser Shaver's and the other was his daughter Mary's stone.
