Paul was born June 15, 1937 and passed away peacefully in his home in Omaha on June 7, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Dorothy; 2 daughters, Sigrid (Eric) Gustafson and Kari (James) Webb; 2 sons, Daniel (Debby) Swanberg and William (Jill) Swanberg; 8 grandchildren, Samuel (Heather), Audrey, Levi, Sarah, Jaime, Owen, Jane and Jonathan. Paul was one of 6 children born to Lydia and Maurice Swanberg in Sisseton, South Dakota. He is survived by all of his siblings; Marie Cross, Marvick Swanberg, Lois Ann Smith, Dorothy Spielman and Charlotte Thompson. Paul is also survived by Tommy and Sharon Smith, sister and brother-in-law.

Paul graduated in 1959 from Augustana College in Sioux Falls where he met Dorothy in the school choir. Paul served in the US Navy and Naval Reserves for over 34 years and retired Captain in 1988. He served as a Naval Academy Blue and Gold Officer and was President of the Naval Reserve Association in 1978-79. Paul treasured both his country and navy colleagues throughout his life.

In his civilian career, Paul worked in the telecommunications industry for over 30 years. He also was active in his local community. Paul enjoyed many years as a member of the Omaha Lions Club and served as president in 1986-87.

Paul was a blessing to all those that his life touched. Memories of his selfless contributions, love of family, and his strong faith in Christ will be treasured.
