Paul "Pete" N. Laughner Jr., 77, of Patterson Township, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born March 13, 1933, in Ridgway, he was the son of the late Paul "Rosie" N. Sr. and Josephine "Jo" (McClain) Laughner.
He was a graduate of Geneva College and Carnegie Mellon University. He was a member of Theta Xi fraternity, a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Airco Welding Products as a sales engineer.
A member of Divine Mercy Parish, Pete was on the Parish Council, president of Holy Name Society and a member of Beaver County Holy Name Society. Pete was a Boy Scout leader for many years, a docent at Old Economy Village and was both treasurer and volunteer at the Vicary House in Freedom. He volunteered at Divine Mercy Academy and was known for his generosity and love for teaching kids. Pete was best-known for his sense of humor. He was much loved by the community, his family and friends.
Pete is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eleanor Jean (McMurdy) Laughner, whom he married Nov. 3, 1956. He was the loving father of Paula Browe (Andy), of Indiana; Diane Esswein (Ed), of Pittsburgh; and Michael (Karen) Laughner, of Raleigh, N.C. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Mathew, Daniel, Jon and Katie Browe; and Nathaniel and Liam Laugh-ner.
