Patrick Shaughnessy was very likely born in Ireland. He married Margaret Ellen Walsh, and they had at least two children, John Patrick Shaughnessy, born in 1886, and Alfred James Shaughnessy, born in 1897. He likely immigrated to the United States with his wife and settled in Detroit, Michigan, which is where his wife hosted her younger cousin John Walsh when he came to the United States in 1906.
