Owen met an untimely death at the age of 33 yrs. While raising a log hou se he was crushed by a log that was being pushed into place. Oral histo ry suggests that all hands had been "partaking of the grape" and could ha ve been more careful. His wife, Mariah, came to the scene, carried him aw ay and washed and dressed him to await the arrival of the undertaker...
