Athens Messenger OWEN MARTIN 20 Dec 1933 Athens Messenger Resident of The Plains will be buried there Thursday Nelsonville, Dec 20- Owen McCellan Martin, aged 77 years, a highly respected resident of The Plains, died last night at his home at 9 o’clock. He married Emma Larson who preceded him in death. The body was taken to .?? Funeral Home where friends may call until Thursday at 3 o’clock when funeral services will be held at the Nazarene Church at the The Plains with burial there. Mr. Martin is survived by the following children; Mrs. Mabel Hawk and William and ..? all of California; Mrs. Grace Lewis, Winfield, Kansas; Mrs. Ethel Demal, Elko, Nevada; Mrs. Edith Ray, of Oklahoma, and Charles at home. A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. 24 Dec 1933 Athens Messenger Martin Funeral held at Nazarene Church, Lifelong Resident of The Plains District is buried Millfield-Dec 23-Funeral services for Owen M. Martin were held at the Nazarene Church, The Plains, Thursday afternoon. Mr. Martin a lifelong resident of The Plains District save for a few years spent in the West, died at the age of 77 years at the home of his son Charles Martin and family in Millfield. He had been in failing health several years and on December 10 suffered a severe stroke of paralysis. His youngest daughter, Mrs. Edith Ray, of Bramen, Okla. Came to assist in his care during his last illness. All of his seven children save Charles Martin live in the Far West. Twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. Special music was offered at the funeral service by Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Cooper, accompanied by Mrs. Lizzie Shafer, pianist.
