Otto Fredrick Wilhelm Cammonn when by the name of Wilhelm. He attended Kustrin's high school and later the Friedrichschule in Kustrin until his 7th year of secondary school. Then he became a private secretary. At age 18 he voluntarily joined the Pommeranian Riflemen. He fought the French in the Battle of Belle Alliance in 1815. Later in 1815 he was discharged from the army to pursue his career.
