RISINGSUN -- Funeral services for Orville J Shreffler, 86, of Risingsun, w ill be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ris ingsun, the Rev. Ivan Schwenn officiating. Burial will be in Bradner Cemet ery.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Barndt Funeral Hom e, Wayne, and an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Mr. Shreffler died at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at his daughter 's residence in Fostoria.

He was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Bessemer, Pa. to George W and Ada Mae (Keele y) Shreffler. He married Donna F Kennedy on April 22, 1939, and she died S ept. 28, 1988.

Surviving are two sons, Arden D of Helena; and Wm O of Risingsun; two daug hters, Mrs. Thomas (Carolyn K) Chalfin, Risingsun; and Mrs. Marvin (Da wn M "Dolly") Engle-Harmon, Fostoria; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchil dren; and a brother, Thearon of West Millgrove.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Loleta Hiser, Twila Loudon a nd Wilavene Lawrence.

Mr. Shreffler retired as a machine operator at Union Carbide, Fostoria.

He was a U.S Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church; Albert Bowe Americ an Legion Post 338, Bradner, where he was chaplain for more than 30 year s; Fostoria VFW and Eagles; I.O.O.F Lodge, Portage; and a former memb er of Risingsun Volunteer Fire Department and town council.
